Before actual transactions are carried out in SAP asset management, all the required set-up should be done first. Otherwise, if the set-up is incomplete the user(s) would end-up encountering some errors.
One of the common errors encountered is related to asset number range interval. Example of the error message is “Number range 01 not in the number allocation range”.
The said error occured during creation of asset master. The error occured because number range intervals ’01′ for asset has not yet created in the company code.
To create the number range for asset, follow this procedure. This is a helpful reference, especially for SAP beginners and Users.
Path: IMG → Financial Accounting (New) → Asset Accounting Organizational Structures → Asset Classes → Define Number Range Interval.
Transaction code: AS02
The Asset Number Ranges screen appears:

As standard suggest, copy existing number range interval from existing company code. Select the copy icon (as highlighted), the Copy: Company code pop-up window appears. Enter your reference company code (from) and the company code you want to create the number range (to).
Then save your work. Note that during saving, no transport request is created for the creation of number range. You need to create number range interval for each client. Or you can transport manually the content of the table.
