Bank account number

The maximum length character of bank account number in the SAP system is 18 charaters. You can lower your maximum lenght of bank account number e.g. up to 10 characters only. However, you can not increase the SAP standard of 18 characters.

There might be instances that you will encounter this error message related to field bank account number “Entry in Field Bank Acct. No. is longer than 10 characters”.

The error Entry in Field Bank Acct. No. is longer than 10 characters” appear because in the settings of your country for bank account number, the maximum lenght set is 10 character length only. During data entry the number of characters entered in field bank account number is more than 10. Hence, the said error appear.

To change the settings for bank account number field length, follow this procedure:

Transaction code: OY17

You can change the length from 10 to maximum of 18 characters.
