Error Message:

“Posting not possible (Asset does not manage postable areas)”.

Diagnosis and Analysis:

Transaction type xxx determines that posting must be performed in specific areas. None of these areas are managed for the specified asset.

The above error occured during posting of asset revaluation using transaction code ABAW.

Procedures to fix the above error:

There are configuration settings need to be set-up for asset revaluation process. The configuration should be done to run transaction ABAW, Balance Sheet Revaluation.

A. Determine Depreciation Areas

Path: Financial Accounting (New) → Asset Accounting → Special Valuation → Revaluation of Fixed Assets → Revaluation for Balance Sheet → Determine Depreciation Areas.

Transaction Code: OABW

The “Chart of Depreciation Selection” dialog box appears. Enter your company code and press Enter.

On the next screen, the list of depreciation areas created are displayed. On the right portion, there are check boxes for RevlAPC and RevlD. Ticket the appropriate boxes for revaluation depreciation areas then save.

B. Maintain Accounts for Revaluation

Path: Financial Accounting (New) → Asset Accounting → Special Valuation → Revaluation of Fixed Assets → Maintain Accounts for Revaluation.
